Jewel Tones & Mixed Layers

Wearing:
Green jacket from H&M, blue long velvet vest is thrifted along with my metallic tote bag and the purple embroidered dress worn underneath, hat is from Target, boots are from Anthropologie, brass long ring is also from Anthropologie, other rock stone ring is from my old job at ROOST CO, other necklaces are thrifted but the bell necklace I handmade.

Hi Loves!

This outfit I put together on my day off from work so I wore something moody, layered, and a little bit complex. I love mixing colors and prints if you haven't noticed by now and one way I achieve that is to mix jewel tones together which always seems to work out well. Adding neutrals to break up a lot of color also helps create visual balance to one's outfit like I did here adding my brown boots, hat and matching bag but in a brown metallic. I'm also a fan of jewelry which I layered on as well to add pops of metallic elements. I kept my make up pretty neutral since my outfit was so colorful and crazy but a purple shadow and red lip with a touch of blush would've worked just as well here. Honestly, I was just feeling lazy and didn't feel like wearing a lot of makeup which is good to do sometimes in my opinion, let your bare face breath free from time to time ladies its good for the skin just be sure to apply sunblock of some kind or a nice BB cream works just fine.

The Joshua Tree Girls Trip

 Hi Loves!

Okay Where to begin... Well about two weeks ago I took a two day mini vacation trip with two of my best friends Alex and Regina to the desert. We drove into Joshua Tree which is only a few miles outside of Palm Springs where coachella was going on at the time. Honestly we kinda wanted to avoid that crazy burnt out crowd so we went to a cute little venue called Pappy and Harriets nested in Pioneertown right outside of downtown Joshua Tree.

Who may you ask did we go to see play? Why one of my all time favorite indie bands of course  JENNY LEWIS !!! Truth be told I have already seen her several times but I didn't care we were on our own little adventure together. They say the best times in your life are spent with your friends traveling together and I completely agree. We drank, we ate, we were mary, got all dolled up, chilled by the pool, made new friends and danced our butts off at the show. I couldn't have asked for a better time with better girlfriends we worked as a team and got along swimmingly. Good vibes all around...

And if you can't tell by the photos I took that we had a good time then your blind. These two babes I can say will always be close friends of mine especially since I've known them both since I was in high school. We all three were living it up and enjoying what the single life in your 20's has to offer. Next month I'll be taking the next adventure with Alex to San Francisco, my old home for an old co-worker and good friends wedding so I'm sure I'll have more to share when that happens. Till then more fashion related posts will be headed your way.

Hope everyone is enjoying your week so far! I know I am.

Just thought I'd share my visual eye candy with you all.

The Handmade Russian Vintage Coat

Hi Loves!

So I'm pretty much in love with this crazy velvet, embroidered, hand stitched, oversized, vintage coat jacket thing. LOL The story behind it takes place in San Francisco where I used to live where I purchased it this time last year from a street market vendor. I remember it so clearly, I was accompanied by my close friend Emillie (who I have mentioned in my previous posts) at the Hayes Valley Urban Air Market on a sunny afternoon. I met her after work in the Hayes Valley neighborhood where we strolled through the booths and oohed and awed at all the pretty goods being sold when I stumbled upon this coat and fell hard. I don't know what it is about prints and unique details about a piece that just makes me feel all tingly inside. I have great appreciation for things that are made with love and are a work of art like this coat. Its definitely a collection piece in my eclectic wardrobe which is always growing...
I find it fascinating how an item like a signature perfume scent can take you back to the time and place and make one reminisce and smile. For me that was a great day spent shopping alongside good company topped with yummy food and a belgium beer. I even remember my bike ride home that evening listening to my iphone's tunes and pedaling into the sunset towards the beach (Richmond district bound).
Oh how it takes me back...

I just felt like a foreign queen in this robe of a coat, fabulous and beautiful.
Anyways I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'll be checking in again very soon.
Until next time!

HI LOVES!

I'm back again with this new post featuring a special guest, Trevor Jones also known as my brother. He's handsome, artsy and ladies... he's single! ; ) Well actually, we both are at the moment lol. Anyways, this shoot was also part of my recent collaboration with my new photographer friend Lacey where she has edited and taken all the photos in this series and I styled the looks. There's nothing more I love than getting dressed up and dragging my model-like brother into it all. He was such a good sport carrying our bags and equipment but what most strikes me is how much of a natural male model he is. Being back home I've been trying to act like the big sister that I am and help him grow into his confidence and show him how to be outgoing and meet people, which can be tricky sometimes if you're not comfortable doing that sort of thing. We have opposite personalities, if you catch my drift so this whole experience was a lot of fun and a good start in the right direction.

I hope you readers enjoy these images as much as I do. Be sure to check back for more posts...
