A Year In Reflection

Hi Loves!

Phew what a year it's been right? Where did it all go? It's been a strange, weird and downright different kind of year. Consisting with nothing but growth and self exploration, trial and error, new and old projects. As well as some bad tinder and okcupid dates mixed in along my way. As sappy and silly as I could get I better not go down that path today. Speaking from the heart here, I'm so blessed to have my family present and persistent in my life as well as the wonderful friends I have made and tended to this year.
I put together the images above to show what's been on my mind as we wrap up this 2015. Moving back to San Diego in December of last year was one of the hardest and toughest decisions I had to make in my young adult life but it's been one of the best things I've done for myself. Getting centered, going back to school as marvelous thing. Discovering this new found passion of mine with hair and makeup has been very satisfying and rewarding for me as well. I feel like it's life's way of saying, "this is what you're meant to do"... It's nice to now know what I want to do. #melinalproblems Haha but in all seriousness I'm eternally grateful to be where I am at right now. Opening doors to new horizons is what it's all about.

THERE'S MORE:
Since we are on the subject next year or New Year let me just say that it's going to ROCK!!!
Welcome change, new projects, goals and visions. Let creation continue and cheers to new goals and to do lists in our lives.

Some Things To expect In 2016 From Honey Lavender
1. I'm playing the idea of starting a podcast.
2. Keep traveling, next stop Portland.
3. Graduate from Cosmetology school and get my license so I can be all legit and shit.
4. Move (like especially out of my parent's house after I graduate school but only after I'm fully working in the industry)
5. Get/have new jobs or career in general.
6. More crazy hair colors from yours truly
7. More collaborations, giveaways and better overall interaction with my journey of learning on social media platforms, blogging and experimenting...

That's about it folks.

So cheers, Happy New Year!
Let's rock this joint and do it in style.
Serve that bubbly, it's time to celebrate!

XOXO

Styling Tatiana Look 2

Hi Loves!

Merry Christmas and a Happy early New Year everyone. So as much as I want to be all cliche and post about the holiday today I'd rather do the opposite right now... Sorry folks maybe next year I'll be posting about some festive activity or something red, green or winter wonderland worthy. Guess you'll all just have to keep reading and checking back to see if that happens.
And on that note back to the real reason I wanted to post these images today...
As a "Christmas gift" to myself I have been sprucing up this lovely blog of mine. I've been on here all day updating, and editing and installing what you now all see as my very special and brand new LAYOUT!!! You're welcome? Haha I've been wanting to do this for some time now (about a year in all honesty).

Besides this beautiful new site you see before your very own two eyes I want to talk about miss model Tatiana up above. What a fun young lass she is. I had her channeling a sexy silly playful bohemian babe for this set of photos, can't you tell? Also the dress may look familiar, because I have blogged about it before in this post: The White Summer Dress Anyhow, this look turned out great! It was a lot of fun to mix it up and play up her girly girl side with a more vibrant makeup look, cool and unique accessories, unexpected elements to her outfit like the sunglasses, scarf and vest which all works so effortlessly together.
Playing dress up never gets old for me.

What's on Tatiana:
Vest, cuff and ankel boots are the models own  her ankel boots which she metioned were picked up at Forever 21, Scarf is a thrifted vinatge find, belt is vintage, sunglasses were borrowed from a friend, and her dress is mine which was from http://www.boutiquefawn.com/

Makeup:
all MAC products, ask to learn about specifics used for this second makeup look

Styling Tatiana Series: Look 1

Hi Loves!

So today I'm thrilled to release these first few images from my recent photoshoot from this past Sunday.

Meet Tatiana, isn't she just a little babe? Uh I couldn't get enough of her during this shoot. She rocked her looks and popped those poses as best she could. I literally thought of her as my real life barbie doll that day. Anything I put her in, any look I threw her way she rocked, like a true model. She's from Russia, went to college in Chicago but has recently moved to sunny San Diego where she plans on staying for a while, quite an international beauty if you ask me. The photographer I collaborated with, Will found her through model mayhem and I found Will thorough good ole social media aka Instagram.
Together we made a killer trio of a team. Starting from 9:00 am sharp to 4:00pm we shot three looks on Tatiana and these images above were from our first set. I thought her green dress was festive enough of for a San Diego California Christmas post, so here you are.
I hope you enjoy these images as much as I do.

For this first look I wanted to show a "girl next door" type of mood with natural looking makeup, girly bouncy curls and a simple modern chic outfit. All hair, makeup and wardrobe styling are done by yours truly. I used MAC cosmetics, a curling wand, hairspray and a touch of pink lipstick topped with a subtle highlighter on her T-zone for this beauty look.

What she's wearing:
Dress is models own from Forever 21, boots and black and white sweater is also model's own, all jewelry except for her watch was used from my own personal jewelry collection. The two long necklaces are vintage/thrifted and the brass and crystal cuff and matching collar necklace are from ROOST.CO, but can be found and purchased from the Anthropologie website.
